To work together, especially in a joint intellectual effort.
I love filmmaking. That is really the basis of my philosophy. I'm not cut out to sit in silent vigil in a cubicle shuffling papers from my in box to my out box. Sure, sometimes a project kicks my ass, but that is to be expected. When you pour everything into something it takes a toll, but no matter how much a project takes, I love filmmaking and always look forward to my next day on set.
When I am shooting a project, I let the script and the director guide me. That's not to say that I don't have my own style or ideas, but for me the most rewarding projects are the ones where true collaboration takes place. And not suprisingly, these are the projects that turn out the best. If you just want a button pusher to run the camera, I can do that, but I believe the real magic of filmmaking takes place in collaboration. |
